Pandemic-Proof: 5 Reasons Why Animation is A Great Idea For Your Brand Right Now

The pandemic isn’t over, but we’re getting closer to the end as more and more people get vaccinated. One year after the pandemic began, businesses, agencies and brands are still cutting marketing budgets, giving marketing teams much less to work with to produce results. This is precisely why right now is the best time to stand out from the competition and take a chunk of their market share. What's the magical solution? Video Animation.

Here are 5 reasons why Video Animation is the best investment your brand can make:

  1. Animated content is entertaining and engaging. Did you know that 90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual? Visuals are processed 60,000 times faster in the brain than text. Which means, implementing animation is pretty much a no-brainer. By using fun 3D animated characters, bright colors, and visually stimulating messaging, viewers will be more inclined to engage with and recall your brand on social media, in app, in an ad, or in the digital landscape.
  2. Animation creates a lasting impression. Unlike text or live-action video, animated content has been scientifically proven to be more visually intriguing and memorable. Not only is it easier for an audience to digest information and retain it, but it also evokes positive emotions that help your long-term brand recall, which could incline consumers to act in regards to the brand. Remember the 3D animated AFLAC duck? Yep. He might be annoying, but he’s hard AF to forget.
  3. Animations are customizable. With 3D animation, the possibilities are endless. Just about any product or service can be effectively marketed through an animated video. Want to tell a compelling story about your product to draw your audience to your brand on social media? Or maybe, you want to display the inside of your product while showing your customers how it works? Can you say, exploding view and X-ray vision, anyone?
  4. Animated content is safe to create and update remotely. Even before the pandemic, when real life was hustling and bustling, animation was easy and safe to produce remotely - and will continue to be something that does not require an in-house team. While this fact was already beneficial in normal circumstances, it is even more helpful now in the middle of the pandemic. With animation, you don’t have to worry about social distancing, keeping your mask on around others, or having a COVID compliance officer on set because content is produced entirely remotely. All you need is the fancy animation software, good servers to render, and some really talented 3D animators and artists. Enter us.
  5. Animation brings your brand to life. The pandemic taught us much about germs and viruses - and printed materials didn't just go to the back burner - they went up in flames. No one wants to touch things, so give them all they need with an entertaining animated video. Turn your pitch deck or brochure into an animated video, create an animated reveal of your logo, or animate your creative assets, brand images, and so much more.

Omg! We won a 2020 Silver Telly, only one of the most prestigious awards in all the land, for our fully animated piece: Tiny Gestures of Love with Carlos, my husband, as the Art Director and me as the Producer. Okay. Full l transparency. It was announced back in May, but we finally received the statuette. And it's heavy. Recently learning that there were more than 12,000 entries it almost feels like we won twice.

You may think 12 seconds isn’t much, but from start to finish, it took four weeks to create and produce the final award-winning animation. This included concepting the idea, building the 3D models, rigging the 3D characters, lighting and texturing, animating,  and rendering them with a cost of $8,000 to $10,000.

Do you want a shiny, Telly statuette to show off your video storytelling genius, too? Submit your work before the early entry deadline, December 11th, and pay only $145 for single entries and $235 for campaign entries.

The video categories are as follows:
  1. Branded Content
  2. People’s Telly
  3. Series/Shows/Segments
  4. Social Video
  5. Non-broadcast
  6. Commercials/Marketing
  7. Immersive & Mixed Reality

From innovative media and production companies to world-class brands, Telly Award Winners represent companies who continue to break boundaries across video. Participating in The 42nd Annual Telly Awards not only proves that your work is the top of its industry, it honors the video storytelling you’ve created in 2020, in spite of the boundaries and challenges you’ve faced this year. Whether your clients have cut budgets, work has all but disappeared, or you have to shoot commercials remotely  or you have to shoot commercials remotely with only two people and a remote video production kit on set. You’re resilient. And creative. Share your work!

Somebody, pinch me! I was asked to be a judge for the 2020 Women in Content Marketing Awards organized by the Masthead Media Company. It’s the first time I’ve ever been approached to participate on the jury of such a prestigious awards event.

It isn’t American Idol and I’m no Christina Aguilera, but WICMA is a pretty big deal as far as our industry goes. It was created to recognize the outstanding work of inspiring and accomplished innovators, spotlighting specific achievements made by women and ways that these marketers have positively impacted others — colleagues, clients, and the industry as a whole — through their leadership.

What I love about these awards is that they don’t just focus on the strength of the winner portfolio. They focus on the overall contribution the candidate has made in her industry including community involvement and impact, professional achievements, leadership and mentorship. It’s brains, beauty AND heart!

As a woman in content myself I am so excited to evaluate the work of some of the most accomplished and talented women content marketers in the industry, alongside my impressive fellow jurors. Wish me luck!

I-scream. you scream. We all scream for ice-cream.

In honor of National Ice Cream Day, we want to share the secret recipe of how we build our first little friend in our first blog post ever.

Inspired by the art form Kawaii(It rhymes with Hawaii) we dreamt this up because, as ice-cream aficionados, we absolutely had to celebrate July 19th; a day officially decreed National Ice-cream Day back in 1984.

Here’s how we did it:

  1. Quickly produced this by, first, purchasing an ice-cream model from TurboSquid.
  2. Modeled and rigged out a face (eyes, nose, and mouth) in Maya followed by exporting the 3D animated assets into Element3D, a plugin in AfterEffects that allows 3D geometry to be lit and textured within the program.
  3. Rendering was super fast which is one of the reasons we enjoy using Element3D.

Overall, this little guy took us about 5 full days to build, animate and produce. To celebrate this wonderful day we busted out our best 3D artist skills to create this popsicle and a whole line up of diverse popsicles, coming soon!

Have you been thinking about having your own custom animation or character? Get in touch with us, here, and we’ll make your dreams come true.

Enjoy!

Hi there. I'm Lizbeth Cardozo. I am the co-founder and a producer at Tiny Milkshake, a women run and owned animation studio. Here, I'll share news, behind the scenes and milkshake musings from time-to-time. When I'm not writing, producing, bringing in new clients, running an animation studio or a marketing campaign, I'm hiking, road biking or eating a scoop of dark chocolate chunk mint ice-cream; grass-fed, of course. It's my jam.
